I wanted to take a few minutes today to let you know about our newest coffee from the Indonesian island of Sulawesi formerly known as Celebes. Toraja is the center of the coffee production area and located near the highest point of the Sesean Mountains. The people of t his region are descendants of oceanic traders who crossed the sea to settle in the Sulawesi highlands. They are an independent ethnic group who build their homes in the shape of their original boats with great craftsmanship and attention to detail. This detail and precision are also reflected in their coffee crop! Toraja is known for producing some of the best Arabica coffee in the world.

The coffee of Sulawesi has always been organic by default and the crops are being harvested today the same as in the past. These farmers are now part of the first organic certified coffee coop in Sulawesi enabling them to receive a premium for their coffee. The goal of the coop is to produce the best organic coffee in Sulawesi and to  improve the livelihood of all of the farmers and their families both socially and economically. To ensure health, luck and prosperity for the farming families the coffee jute bags are all marked with a symbol of the sun.
